I Rudi sono un power trio con Who, Small Faces e Jam nel cuore e forti influenze del beat italiano degli anni ’60. L’ingrediente principale della band, che per scelta suona senza chitarra, sono le tastiere di Gabriele Bernardi (giovane musicista già al fianco di Shel Shapiro, Olly Riva e New Dada), a cui si aggiungono la voce e il basso del fratello Silvio e la batteria di Stefano Di Niglio, e un lavoro di fino sulle armonie vocali e sui testi con l’ambizione di “dire” qualcosa.
Formatisi nel 2010, sono approdati alla formazione in trio solo nel 2013, anno del primo ep in free download “Tre pezzi di routine”, i milanesi Rudi hanno pubblicato a settembre 2015 il primo full-length “Nient’altro che routine” (Ammonia Records) che ha ben impressionato gli appassionati, collezionando ottime recensioni sulla stampa e online e la benedizione di figure fondamentali del modernismo italiano e inglese, e li ha portati sui palchi del Festival Beat di Salsomaggiore e del Cinquantennale del Beat Italiano e all’accordo di sponsorizzazione con Fred Perry, storico marchio delle sottoculture.
A metà febbraio 2019 uscirà il secondo album “Fuori tempo massimo” (Ammonia/Area Pirata): nove pezzi originali in italiano tra beat e British invasion, garage rock e un pizzico di soul, cui si aggiunge una rilettura della classica “Lost Woman” (che diventa “Disperata”) di un gruppo culto come gli Yardbirds. Con un filo di incoscienza e un bel po’ di ostinazione, lontano anni luce dalle tante operazioni-nostalgia contemporanee, è un lavoro che accompagna i Rudi lungo la strada che loro stessi hanno scelto, fieramente “Fuori tempo massimo”.

I Rudi are a power trio devoted to The Who, The Small Faces, The Jam, and strong influences from the Sixties Italian beat.
The main ingredient of the band, playing by choice without the guitar, are the keyboards of Gabriele Bernardi (young musicians already seen alongside former Rokes’ Shel Shapiro, Olly Riva and New Dada), with the addition of the vocals and the bass of his brother Silvio and the drumming of Stefano Di Niglio, and a fine work on vocal harmonies and lyrics.
Formed in 2010 and established as a power trio at the end of 2013, year of the first free download EP “Tre pezzi di routine” [“Three pieces of routine”], i Rudi [meaning: The Rudes; read: “ee roodie”] published in September 2015 their first full-length, “Nient’altro che routine” [“Nothing but routine”]. The album impressed music lovers, collected good paper and online reviews and blessings by key figures of the Italian – and English – modernism, and brought i Rudi on the stages of Festival Beat and of the 50th Anniversary of the Italian Beat. In the same year followed the endorsement by Fred Perry, historical brand for subcultures.
The new album, “Fuori tempo massimo” [“Definitely out of time”], will be released on CD by Ammonia Records and on vinyl by Area Pirata in middle-February 2019: nine original songs between Italian beat and British Invasion, garage rock and a bit of soul, and a reinterpretation of the classic “Lost Woman” [becoming “Disperata”] by the cult-band The Yardbirds. A bit reckless and a lot more stubborn, miles away from today’s nostalgia operations, it’s a work that brings i Rudi along the road they’ve chosen to follow in the first place, proudly “Fuori tempo massimo”.
